Operator Relations & Industry Development Unit

Passenger Transport Sub-Unit

This subunit is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the following engagements through the implementation of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan:

  • Cross-Border Operators Forums for Taxis, Bus, and Tour sectors
  • Engagements with Route Committees
  • Engagements with International Cross-Border Transport Organisation (ICBTO)
  • Engagements with Route Committees on the six corridors (Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini, Botswana, Lesotho, and Namibia)
  • Engagements with Bus Associations
  • Conducting outreach workshops for tour operators at the nine (9) provinces.

Freight Sub- Unit

This subunit is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the following engagements through the implementation of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan:

  • Cross-Border Operators Forums for the Freight sector
  • Responsible for large, medium, and small businesses freight operators
  • One-on-one- consultations with freight operators
  • Engagements Freight Associations
  • Engagements with Mailaishas

Industry Development Sub-Unit

The sub-unit collects processes and disseminates relevant cross-border information to stakeholders with interest in the industry. Industry Development facilitates the provision of training, capacity building and the promotion of entrepreneurship in respect of small, medium, and micro-enterprises with an interest in cross-border road transport. Below are some of the key areas of focus for the subunit:

  • Building capacity of permit holding operators through workshops, training, and information sharing.
  • Recruit new entrants into the industry with special emphasis on historically disadvantaged individuals.
  • Offer support and solution to challenges faced by operators.
  • Work with industry stakeholders to identify, overcome infrastructure or any other challenges that impede the free movement of passengers and goods across the borders.
