Key functions

To identify regulatory gaps within cross-border road transport environment. Ensure compliance with Cross Border Road Transport Act by operators and harmonise legal instruments within SADC. Some of the key functions of the Unit include the following:

  • Review regional agreements
  • Identify needs for legal reform.
  • Harmonization of legal instruments within SADC
  • Develop regulatory / legislative reform proposals.
  • Develop and provide input into relevant policy and legislative frameworks, i.e. legislation, policy instruments and plans such as Municipal Integrated
  • Manage the process of conducting section 30 hearings of the CBRT Act.
  • Lead evidence at the Regulatory Committee section 30 hearings
  • Ensure adequate support to the Regulatory Committee in the execution of its functions.
